Mother I Think

One becomes a mother by own choice
suffering through subsequent years
of scraped knees, fights, bruises too.
With grace of womanhood
she bears the changes
wrought in her child
as they grow,
years go
by
and then
suddenly
they are strangers
still living with you
imposing their ideas
of how your life should be lived
without any second thoughts of
how their words and actions will hurt you.

This is so true. My children are just entering teens, but I have a friend in Texas whos children are newly married with children. She comments to me often about hurtful remarks her daughters say to her about their upbringing. I find it so unkind on the children's part. Life can get real tough sometimes, and they have no idea the courage it takes to make choices and get through those years raising children.

Thank You JolieH ..... that is so true. Also ..... I never ever thought to speak or hurt my parents purposely like that. Before I even had five words out of my mouth my Dad would always yell "You're grounded, Go to your room!" Some kids today have no respect....no consciences...

Mysty,

My mother passed away when I was 38 and she was 59...Sometimes I wish she were still here to intrude. Beautiful poem.. I loved the flow and the way your put it to paper

I lost my mother when I was only 33; she was 57. I know how you feel Jer. I feel so ripped of when people talk about their moms.

wow folks ..... My Mum was just 9 days past her 57th birthday ..... I was 32. She had Lou Gehrig's, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. And I took care of her almost everyday for the last 3 years of her life. I was with her when she died. I miss my Mum very very much too.

Thanks for reading me Jerry and JolieH

Love

Mysty
