Default My Red, Red Rose Terence Started This Thread
As I walked the lonesome lane
I came across a rose so red
it was as if the crimson sky
had opened wide and bled.

Soft petals slightly parted by
the warmth of morning rays;
its edges curled in pleasing pout
that set the world ablaze.

Honey bees had come to court
the sweetness of its heart
and so I waited patiently,
until they would depart.

I plucked that rose from where it lay.
Its thorns, still in their infancy,
were pliant to my touch
but took strong hold of me.

Over the years, with love and care,
that rose has been well nourished;
pressed between my heart and soul
its beauty’s always flourished.

a mighty metaphorical peice of art you have displayed here...
one that has matched passion with love. the dripping word play,
like water so refreshing, running downward on the screen and into your heart with the last line.... very inpressive and personal....
thank you for your talent friend

light and peace to you

Thanks so much, Sally, for the glowing response. If you know of the Scottish poet Burns you'll know where I got my inspiration for this.

I appreciate your response, Phil, and am pleased you liked it. The feelings in this come from many years of marriage.

Dear Terence,

This was such a treat to read. Beautifully crafted and executed. One of the most beautiful poems I have ever read. Intimate, like an intricate poetic fillagree. The images and fluidity were amazing! Reads like it should be on a Hallmark Card. Breath-taking to say the least. Loved it! Excellent rating. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
