Behind the falls
there lies a lair
Where magick
once was found.
Where precious stones
and gold were kept,
tucked safely
underground.

Within this lair
an awesome sight
that beckons all
who dream.
A dragon waits
protected there
with emerald eyes
of green.

Adults may come,
adults may go,
amazed in such
surprise,
but do they ever
wonder what
Is seen through
children's eyes.

If one believes
that magick comes
with dear old
Santa Claus,
then why not look
into ones heart
to this paradise
that was.
Forestdawn
Goddess of the green grove.
Honor the old ones in deed and name
let love and light be our guides again.

I understood the incorporation of Santa Claus perfectly and adds to the brilliance. Awsome Sally, makes one take a step back, evaluate, and ponder what could be. Loved it!

Thanks Kim: It takes one with an open mind (so to speak) to see the comparison of Santa Claus in this poem. I wasn't sure if anyone would grasp the idea of it. I knew not everyone would comprehend it.

Erik: I totally respect your comment, and greatly appreciate your thoughts on it, but let me try to explain what I meant with the idea of Santa Claus within the poem.
I compared Santa Claus and Dragons together, because through childrens eyes they are both real. As we grow, imagination plays a huge role in childhood.
Then when we become older we realize that what we believed was fantasy and go on to other things.

Although Santa Claus is still a wonderful icon for children,

Dragons are real in another realm. An out of body experience can show you many things that are not in the reality world. That can ONLY be seen through the experience of leaving the body behind in a dream state (not in a death state).

Anyone can have an out of body experience if one believes in it and researches the full spectrum of them before having one.
I hope this helps.
Blessings

Count me in. There are things that we know and believe when young, that fade away as time goes by. Dragons...we are fascinated by dragons. Yet we are told that they do not exist. I would love to invent a non-existant creature that would be that popular for so many centuries. When I first started reading sci-fi and fantasy as a child, I had a talk with my dad about it. Turns out that he also loved Heinlein as a teenager, but had put it all aside as childish whimsy, even though his own father was a magic weaver of all sorts of tales. This has always saddened me beyond belief. As far as out of body experiences, does eight miles high count?

I'm also writing fantasy story, I hope to continue as long as the genaration goes, so it's like never ending story. I posted in here in 'short stories', 'legacy of paradox' is the title... Well, non exist creatures, if possible, a small phoenix, some dragons, unicorns, even trolls and elves... But it's so impossible, even an artificial Jurrasic Park is not yet acheived...
