Paper Kisses Sally Roberts Started This Thread
"Paper Kisses"

As I opened up the envelope
My daughter handed me,
She said she had a letter
That she wanted me to see.

As I tore into the sticky flap
Her eyes grew big and wide,
For only she could know for sure
What was safely tucked inside.

I took the paper from within
What could she have written me?
Mostly scribbles I was sure
For she was only three.

Then what I saw was... nothing
Both sides of it were blank,
"What is this?" I asked of her
When my heart had slowly sank.

"I put kisses on it mommy...
I kissed the en'lope too,
No matter where you are each day
I will always be with you."

No words could ever speak so loud
From my darling little princess,
One simple page so full of love
Sealed up in paper kisses.

Hey SALLY - how beautiful is that!!!!! I love the tail you've weaved - This is a really nice poem. I can only imagine receiving such a precious gift.

Really original piece of writing - Thanx for sharing it with us!

Jacquii.

OMG that is so sweet. I got a lump in my throat when I read this poem. It was so beautifully innocent. What a special treat, and being a mother myself it was especially moving.

That is so lovely Sally, I have a similar thing from my two daughters, only I have tiny handprints in water paint, reminding me of when they were very small. Beautiful poem! Keith(backstreetdreamer)

I was never good with the "feet" definitive - care to explain METRICAL?
I'm sure many of us would like the simple definition of such.

btw - TREE's poem is just an example of how brilliant her writing is - She's offered us many definitions/examples of poetic style - I agree with your comment - this poem also put a smile on my face
