Put A Smile On

Put a smile on the man who’s turned to the booze,
Put a smile on the wife who’s singing the blues,
Put a smile on the kids who’s left with no dad,
Put a smile on the faces of all who are sad.

Put a smile on the hungry and those with the food,
Put a smile on the homeless and those who are rude,
Put a smile on the wino and those with the badge,
Put a smile on the faces of all who are sad.

Put a smile on the child who needs help to read
Put a smile on the teen who’s caught up in speed,
Put a smile on the sinner who thinks he’s so bad,
Put a smile on the faces of all who are sad.

Put a smile on the teacher who’s doing her best,
Put a smile on the parent who’s flunking the test,
Put a smile on the student who can’t seem to add,
Put a smile on the faces of all who are sad.

Put a smile on the soldier who’s holding a gun,
Put a smile on the mother that just lost her son,
Put a smile on the friend who’s angry and mad,
Put a smile on the faces of all who are sad.

George

Usually repetition doesn't work for me but this does. Put a smile on...if only it were possible. I try to remember when things are bad that it could be worse and that often helps but there are times when that doesn't work.

A poem full of hope for all who are sad.

hugs,
Gail

The repetition and rhymes work good here.
Great message too. I really like this George!
You've done a great job!

Nightlife calls me.
Through her I am free.
It's the only way to be,
all caught up in a mystery!
Born with full moon fever,
I can make you a believer!
For I am the moonchild,
truly born to be wild!

Now all that echoes in my head is Put a Smile On! Heh. As the others already said, repetition works here. Very hopeful, but that might not work with everyone. I, for example, can't always put a smile on when I get sad. But I do try.

Lovely work
Purple teardrops I cry...
