Time to spawn

Until she enters familiar coastal waters
Using phenomenal sense of smell to locate
Precise river of birth.

Women's annual superabundance
Make them totemic species
Representing death and rebirth
Fecundity, courage, purposeful wisdom and foresight

Pairs of leaping women
Transformed into salmon
Dance beneath the waves
Giving headwaters

Women and salmon
A delicacy to be eaten as sacred life-giver
Divine transformation and migration of her soul
Linking fish with the idea of liberty or escape

Anyway - It's some nice wisdom and love of natural elements that make this collection quite powerful - It's like showing appreciation to Mother Earth while showing love for Earth Mother.

Yes, I agree, beautiful depiction of Naure's Salmon Migration to be analogous to women migrating naturally to find others (dancing with salmon)!! Very powerful, with much strength in your sexuality. The spacing gives the poem the feel of, take yur time, and "savour" what you are reading. I imagined salmon dancing and jumping in their waters of rebirth. Loved it!
