Sunrise
The mist clears
to make way for the morning's sun
whose rays even now begin to reach for the horizon
—where it will be seated for a time
before it makes its ascent into the skies.
May flowers will dance
before the luminescent light,
bobbing and weaving in their playfulness
of the late spring breeze
that makes its way over hilltops
and stirs the newly-born leaves.
Blue birds nestle on rooftops
and watch the starling's aerial display,
and wonder at their own flight,
that they might take,
when their younglings are fully grown
and no longer need their support.
The summer breeze
may bring other startling wonders,
with a playfulness of its own
—albeit in the headiness of the summer's warmth,
when even the rose looks to the relief
that dusk's respite affords.
Meanwhile,
tulips and daisies enjoy the days of warmth
mixed with coolness,
at a time when the daffodils remain vital
in their sunshine yellow.
On this day, the birds busy themselves
with hummingbirds alike
—whose wavering dance reminds us
to play and create the sacred space
for a dance of our own.
