Default Sunrise - New Day nomadicrhymer Started This Thread

The sunrise comes in quiet wonder
Marching forth in glamour and splendor
Brightening, glistening, coloring all
Soft silver strokes at first do fall
Then golden wings spread wide and far

They cover the earth by half in blue
Promising hope for those, many and few
Who strive each day to overcome the strain
Of living in life’s too fast-paced lane

Each day, each morning that shivers in glee
May be the one that makes your troubles flee
Or imbue you with the courage you need
To vanquish the world of all bad deeds
And put an end your on-going fight
With the never-ending terrors of the night

The day dawns clear while the blackbirds sing
Celebrating their triumph over the worms
They have neither a care nor are forlorn
But merely put their heads under their wing
When each night falls and they’re fat and full
With drinking from life’s wealthy spring

Oh, for a mindless carefree day
Spinning on a beach, in the water at play
Floating, paddling, treading the sparkling sea
Like children wondering about nothing at all
What would you not give for such a ball
Where you’re not required to be strong
But can be just a blackbird moseying along
The telephone wire, enjoying the breeze
Looking down, keeping your balance with ease

Though we will never this carefree be
We get a moment, or maybe two or three
Where we look around at the greatness of life
And wonder why we never take the time
To breathe deeply from the fountain of truth
Which can keep us forever in our youth
We have but to love each other and try
Never to ask how, when or why
Goodness comes into all our daily lives
Just accept it and pass it along each time
The same way you would a penny or a dime

Though I thought the entire poem excellent, fantastic and generally schwell (my dad's word, lol) I thought these two lines especially descriptive.

each morning that shivers in glee
Like children wondering about nothing at all

I like that I found nothing to distract me from this imaginative poem. The imagery is vivid and the entire poem reads smoothly.

Fantastic write, Therese
