Upside down for obvious reasons.

Elevenses at Luci’s

In the world contained within an apple,
I sit with the Beast, sip tea from a glass.
His tail extends, offers a tray of cakes.
It tenses as I reach for his favourite,
And yet he smiles with great diplomacy.
I fail to return the gesture this time.

My eyes flick absently around the room.
I see fish in a vase, thorns in a bowl.
Even the Beast keeps a pet. He also
Makes use of coasters. Eyes narrowed, he slides
One as my glass lowers. I glance outside.
There’s a trail of glass where he strolls the dunes.
I try to recall the sensation of…
Sand… thought dissolves; tapping claws on rattan.

Hey J - WELCOME again to the JPiC Community. This piece that you've shared with us is quite amazing... Such skill you've shown with the use of metaphor in this piece. AND the use of wit is almost astounding. DEXTERITY seems to be the word I'm searching for...

The Following Text Is Quoted:
It tenses as I reach for his favourite,
And yet he smiles with great diplomacy.
I fail to return the gesture this time.
LOL such is the way of the beast: smiles, gestures and diplomacy... You'll have to explain where your inspiration came from. Very interesting piece!

Thanx for sharing it!

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Wow! Thanks for your positive feedback, Jacquii
Much appreciated! Glad you liked it

Inspiration, eh? Well often just a small idea or experience can set me off. In this case it was browsing a book of fancy - and tempting (get it ) - cupcake ideas! Once i had the rattan as well, it all fell together hehe
