The Voice of Silence
I'm the itch deep in your bones —
the fire pulsing in your veins.
I'm time that's layered on your skin,
your future, unexplained.
I'm written on the walls of souls —
forgotten words of yesterday.
I'm unsung notes hushed in your throat,
and whispered prayers stashed away.
I love the "voice" of this piece, and the rhyme scheme. The voice is very wise and poetic and I love the fact that it is the inner voice or subconscious, if you will, that assists us in writing, if not write the poems themselves. The stanzas I quoted, really resonated with me, as they speak of an old "voice", like an old "soul," that everyone should listen to, especially the person to whom the "voice" belongs. Thank you for sharing this piece, as it is very inspiring.
