Default A World Of Black And Gray ronbliss Started This Thread
I ventured on a bent, old man,
While in the park one day,
Lost in thought and deep within,
His world of black and gray.

For near an hour I sat and watched,
And wondered what he thought,
Then in a while I sensed his mood,
In silence, feelings caught.

His movements slow, deliberate,
His cat, one time a stray,
Now both provide some company,
In a world of black and gray.

So many years, he’s lived alone,
Alone, without his wife,
Just him and his black Tabby,
To share this lonesome life.

I felt so drawn, to this old man,
I met here on this day,
Who spent the afternoon alone,
In a world of black and gray.

I offered up a silent prayer,
That God would touch his heart,
Show him the colors of my world,
That he might be a part.

I left him there, in Tabby’s care,
As I went on my way,
But long will I remember him,
His world of black and gray.

This reminds me of a writing where you look at a picture and create an entire story from it....I can imagine this old man walking in the park and sort of looking ahead to what's coming next or to see if he can see what's in the future, it's almost a story as if this man was somebody you once knew who had lost everything except Tabby and now is one of those people who no longer speaks with his mouth but with his facial expressions and gestures; Thank You

KingAce,
Thanks for reading A World of Black and Gray. Thanks for responding. Actually, I wrote the poem from a photo. A Black and white photo of a man in the park with his cat.

Benny,
Thank you for your generous comment. I write quite a few of my poems from photos I have seen. Again, thanks.
