Fantastic feast! I just found this, heard Kimberly talk about it the other day and now my mind is working it already. I got dinner for two already and must toss coin to see who will join them. Expect unconventional. What do all those big words mean anyway? Really love that piece and expect to see in the cathedral soon! Hmmmm...Mr. Frost and Mr. Zimmerman......Yeah, I think I got it!

Icon14 Dinner At Eight, Don't Be Late
Life in famous joy doth await

The elegant setting at my table

A time of utter celebration!

Alice, Rubin Carter, and a boy were there

Waiting on their arrival!

A couple of Bob’s, Frost and Zimmy

Join the Rev. C.L.Dodgson

Quiescent not, jejune perhaps

Laughter and glee will change

As darkness gives over to light

From each a voice of their generation

Lasting for each and every one to follow

The tales of journeys far and wide

The deep within

In various poetic form

But alas, upon a bright sunrise

It is true that

“Nothing gold can stay”

“The answer is blowing in the wind”

“For the Snark was a Boojum, you see”

Dear Kit,

This is just supreme! I love the Old English feel that this radiates. Your word smithing is such a pleasure to read in and outside of this challenge. I think you and Scott may have scared some! lol. The words I have for yours is magical, awesome, elite, and quixotical! Thank you so much for participating in my challenge, and raising the bar once more.

Hmmmm - The old english feel does give this poem a little "umph" - but I really liked the quoted lines in the last stanza - Seems you've quoted Carroll = For the Snark was a Boojum, you see" --- I thought I'd recognized that line - not exactly sure which poem it's from - but yeah.... The poem has a light bouncy feel/rhythm - which is quite amazing considering the Old English wording. Very nice poem!

Great answer to MS KIM's challenge - Thanx for the sharing

Thank you Kim. Thank you Jacqui. I quoted all three of my poets Robert Frost, Bob Dylan and Lewis Carrol. Frost may have been the only traditional poet among them. It is impossible to calculate just how many people introduction to poetic form was through one of these guys. It is the final line of "The Hunting Of The Snark"

Default My Dinner
I thought about this challenge long
As time passed maybe write a song
But thought that it would be rather jejune

So as I sat and pondered longer
Change of views my mind grew stronger
Life really does play out like a tune

So to my table I did invite
3 friends of mine well within sight
Though they are not so famous as of yet

Dining together we sat and shared
Opposing viewpoints partially impaired
While our whistles we constantly did wet

Alas, a struggle did ensue
For I did not know what to do
To curtail the chaos that now arose

The arguing grew louder still
The pitch in voices becoming shrill
Then silence fell as the meal came to a close

Quiescent now my guests because the well ran dry
This happens when I invite Me, Myself, and I
