Nice writes, everyone! Great exercise, Alan! Here is my contribution to this challenge:

Litterbugs!

The night was tranquil, full of peace
and they were quiet and quick.
They came and dumped their rubbish
and to see it, made me sick.

Apple cores, slime and coffee grounds,
broken pots that once held tea,
plastic wrap and rotten pears
they dumped in my lovely lea.

But they shall get their comeuppance
for I'm a resourceful soul.
Combine that with stubborness,
I don't quit when I've a goal.

Donning gloves, I searched their trash,
found a paper with their name.
Told them they could clean it up,
let them know it's not a game.

I was quite positive they would,
knowing the alternative.
No one likes a hefty fine,
or a dumpsite where they live.

Dear Tree,

Wow, another totally different take, on what seems to be a universal problem.

You write this one as if you were a dainty English LADY, my dear, most restrained but very sure of yourself !

Love
Alan

Ha! Biscotti and Tea with milk please
J/K - I like this write TREE:

The Following Text Is Quoted:
I was quite positive they would,
knowing the alternative.
No one likes a hefty fine,
or a dumpsite where they live.
Nice last stanza + anyone who can rhyme "alternative" with "where they live" deserves at least an honorable mention

Nice write - Thanx for the sharing!

LOL @ MsJ! You have no idea how hard I wracked my poor brain for that rhyme!
You and Alan are doing a marvelous job with these challenges - I love them!

The Old Man

I quickly grabbed the pear off the cart
from the old man's stand on 125th street.
He sold fruits, drinks and all kinds of rubbish,
but I still stopped there every day.
Quiet as kept, I preferred his spot,
an alternative resource to the places uptown,
over priced and "uppities" looking down at me.
This old man was honest; doing a positive thing and combined with hard work, was allowed to remain in peace.
So while disarrayed at times, I'll spend my change here, rather than there.
How's that for comeuppance?

Default The "uppities" are proud of ya !
My dear Sista,

Excellent - tho you might want to make a double RR in disarrayed.

You not only use the words well, but also weave a magic which makes me SEE the old fruit cart, but also chuck in a piece of humanity and philosophy as well. Awedome.

Another one which confirms my love of 10-word challenges !

Love
Alan
