"Holding On To My Heart"

Somewhere in the valley of this distant mind of mine
Echoes the joyous sound of a train whistle
That has blown so many times
~
This early morning cloud cover
Filtering the trickling light
Trying to burn its way through
The windowpane
My eyes see through
~
Staring
In a trance
Mesmerized
By the soft falling rain
Flowing down
It’s stained glass window
Echoing a remembrance
Not that far off
Not that long ago
~
Emotions flowing
Gracefully out of her tear soaked eyes
Holding her not knowing why
~
She sleeps this night
Under the soft moonlight
~
Moonlit lines
Outline the silhouette
The contour of her beautiful form
~
A whirlwind of emotions
Settle in my mind
Whilst
My subconscious
Purses her form
~
Holding on to this heart of mine
It’s homage to the emotions of her soul
~
My sense of touch
Encircles her heart
Our souls
Will find their home
Amidst the open sea
~
The unity
Of our spirit filled souls
Comfort each other’s misfortune
~
Embraced by her love
Tears of joy
Her happiness
The rush of falling in love
The warmth of our courage
Thinking of each other
Wanting each other
Our souls are illuminated
~
This night’s moonlit sky
Reflects a garden of red roses
Sealing the love
We have for each other

The sunrises
Unfolding light onto darkness
Warmth embraces
"Mother Nature"
The sunsets
Showing us
Gods
Painted sky

Arthur,
I always enjoy reading your poems. I especially like the first stanza of this poem. What a wonderful image of a train going through a valley. It’s so peaceful and serene. I would love to see you continue the train theme through your entire poem. Buy a ticket, take it for a ride, tell your poem while looking out the train window, heck rob the thing if your want. It just seems like a fun idea to build on.
It’s lovely as it is, but it came to mind, a “train of thought” might make a wonderful poem. For a quite awhile, I’ve wanted to take a train ride, maybe just a day trip, have lunch somewhere and return. I thought it might be a good way to do some writing.

Jolie...you know what, I think you have just inspired and triggered a great train ride. I already have a great Idea. No telling where I'm going to go with it. Thank You! little lady and again thank you so much for you kind comments. I'm not deserving of them. I'm modest and I feel I have a long ways to go before I consider myself a good writer. But thank you. I will start that poem of a train ride for you.
