to love somebody
is to cry diamonds,
rich with facets of emotion,

octahedral, love is
bright light,
judging its clarity,

love is examining
for impurities, so hard
when the Earth was young,

love is ancient, created
from titanic pressure and
enormous heat underground,

love frees itself like diamonds
through erosion washed across
the landscape,

love can only be scratched
by another love, like diamonds,
so dense that slows the speed of love,

love is elusive, brought up in all that
rock and debris, winnowed out in a
series of sieves and centrifuges,

love is locked away from human
intervention, love is coated with
oil and diamond powder,

love is resting on a spinning scaife,
months after it arrives in the workroom
opaque, its interior frosted,

imperfections hidden until the first
cut has been made, shaping love,
transformed from rough to gem,

without losing too much heart,
is the true art in cutting and
polishing...to love somebody...

~So that light will reflect both from the surface and heart~

Lesbian sexual energy is very powerful. If you don't make it into something bigger than yourself, it is wasted energy. I chose writing...

This is beautiful, I really like love poems....I wrote one myself but the way you made love into a diamond and used that as a continual metaphor to define and portray love was brilliant, i'd love to quote something but I'd prolly end up reposting your poem so....But I love this and hope to hear more for you, Oh and I love the quote in your signature;
"From the ashes to my heart, love burns resiliently as a phoenix..." -Asylum

To you both, PaintedDiary and KingAce, thanks for sharing in love's beauty through the diamond with me. I think that when we can use a metaphor for our emotions, we are richer for it. KingAce, feel free to quote anything of mine you like, it is the utmost compliment when another writer uses a quote from a writer. Writing to me is all about sharing and learning. About the quote in my signature, ha...I'm here on this forum where I am releasing that sexual energy! So we get from this poem, To Love Somebody, a great deal of emotion. NOW...I would like to post another piece in a different category about the diamond which gives a whole other emotional view of the diamond. Thank you both for your comments...I appreciate them greatly and I always welcome constructive criticism. It is how all of us writers grow.

Kindly,

Sage

Again I think it's great how in your writing body and environment are so intimately connected. I will like to read more and more of your work so as to one day understand you ... more.

Hey SAGESWEETWATER - I have to agree with the previous posters - This piece is so very unique; Just brilliant - I love the way you have structured this poem and based LOVE on the process/creation of a diamond. Your metaphors seem to come alive really. Such a unique piece.

The Following Text Is Quoted:
without losing too much heart,
is the true art in cutting and
polishing...to love somebody...

~So that light will reflect both from the surface and heart~
There's knowledge in these words... Analogizing loving someone to the art of cutting and shaping a diamond to utter perfection. Yeah - it's like I can see the loupe myself. Very nice choice of words - unique flow MS SAGE!

Thanx for sharing it!

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---
