to love somebody
is to cry diamonds,
rich with facets of emotion,
octahedral, love is
bright light,
judging its clarity,
love is examining
for impurities, so hard
when the Earth was young,
love is ancient, created
from titanic pressure and
enormous heat underground,
love frees itself like diamonds
through erosion washed across
the landscape,
love can only be scratched
by another love, like diamonds,
so dense that slows the speed of love,
love is elusive, brought up in all that
rock and debris, winnowed out in a
series of sieves and centrifuges,
love is locked away from human
intervention, love is coated with
oil and diamond powder,
love is resting on a spinning scaife,
months after it arrives in the workroom
opaque, its interior frosted,
imperfections hidden until the first
cut has been made, shaping love,
transformed from rough to gem,
without losing too much heart,
is the true art in cutting and
polishing...to love somebody...
~So that light will reflect both from the surface and heart~
