Advice Needed On My Next Project-->Among Others, LOL

Hey JPiC,

I was thinking of writing a series of Children's Science books

, for ages possibly 9 to 12. Topics such as Space, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, Biology and such. I also wanted to target the Urban audience. Different from "The Magic School Bus", type, but maybe with a storyline, adventure, and some poetry mixed in. I do not know who I need to get info from as far as guidelines, publishers, and etc., or even where to start. I would write and illustrate my own books. If anyone has any ideas and or suggestions, or think this is a stupid idea, lol, I would like to hear from you.

one thing, most, not all, publishers like to use their own illustrators, but give it a try

i think this is one the coolest things i have seen in a long time. trust me i have a kid, and that would be perfect. one of the things i remember most about being a small child was that my parents used to take us to chicago and go to every museum and we would spend a couple days in each. to marry the experience of learning with poetry and words, in addition to artwork for an audience that has been sorely short-changed iwith respect to the world of science and art forms would be incredible. I am around some NYC types, so if i can find out anything i'll let you know. i'm wanting to print some of my work anyway so its not like it would be extra work or anything.
