"The Feast of the Leprechauns."(Ch. 2)
"The Feast of the Leprechauns." (Chapter 2). Author: Stardust.
One day, Lady Caprice was knitting a sweater near the fireplace when Sean, her beloved husband was telling stories to his children near the bonfire. Gwynn and Hendel listened with astonished attention to their parentīs realistic and surprising stories.
Sean along with his wife started telling tales to their children, who gathered by the fireplace where the salamanders lived.
Sean...Sean began with the first tale after the whole family had their lovely supper. After all, Gwynn and Hendel were very good children: they studied hard and obeyed their parents.
Sean: "As I come from a western European ancestors who settled down in the region of the Italian Alps Mountains, I shall start telling you about the most ancient, relevant and huge Empire that had ever dominated our planet Earth: The Roman Empire. There is an old legend of Romulo and Remo who had been fed by a female wolf when they were babies. The tradition tells that these twin brothers were abandoned by their own mother after birth. A wolf found them weeping in despair, and then the wolf had become their substitute mother.
The legend tells that grown ups -Romulo and Remo- became Kings later on. These young Kings founded Rome. Rome foundations -as an event- was just the first element that built the Great Roman Empire. Big Circus and Theaters were built there for public entertainments. People of all kind of social stratus gathered there to watch the shows. Big fights between savage people and ferocious animals such as lions and tigers, were just one example to mention.
Roman Emperors were ruthless warriors and their law was the only law. Their authority took place then, up to the extreme to rule almost the whole western world." Sean slowed down breathlessly.
"I hope you have enjoyed this realistic tale!!" Sean exclaimed to his dear folks family.
"How exciting, father!!..." Lady Caprice burst out. Then, she continued with a softer voice: "Now, it is my turn with the second tale." The children listened with astonishment; they all gathered by the fireplace to listen to their parentsītales.
"My mother -Lady Allison-, your granny, was raised by the leprechauns in the forest near the Sea Shore. When she was still a child, the leprechauns found her lonely and weeping in the beach after a terrible accident that her parents had in the sea: the sinking of the family sail-boat. I shall tell you all about that pitiful story some other time."
Then, she went on with her tale...
"The leprechauns took care of Lady Allison until she grew up and left their home in that part of the forest. However, they became their sincere and true friends forever. They would defend each other for the rest of their lives. Even though Lady Allison was still a child, the leprechauns told her their big secret: "The Golden Treasure."
The little people showed it to her where the gold was. The leprechaunsīGold Treasure had been well hidden inside a cave into the Bear Mountain in Wonderland. Lady Allison -my mother- gave them her noble word, as a promise not to tell anyone about it."
Bad News: Goblins and Phookas were after the Gold Treasure, because they had found out about its existance.
The children -Gwynn and Hendel- asked a naive question to their mother: "Mom!! How did the leprechauns get the treasure??"
Lady Caprice continued with her story: "Pirates were sailing not far from the Sea Shore. They carried tons of gold which was stolen from the Spanish Ships. There was dense haze on that day...The ship of the pirates collided against the majestic clift and sunk, after hearing a sweet singing tune coming from the mermaids, who were singing happily and resting on the rocks in spite of the bad weather.
Leprechauns were working there by the beach, and they all witnessed the terrible scene. The little people rushed and hid behind the bushes and trees. In order not to be seen by the few surviving pirates, they remained hidden for awhile, watching how the survivals managed and brought the gold ashore using their rowing boats. The pirates were badly hurt and died at the beach leaving the stolen treasure there by the beach.
The leprechauns came out at once from their hidden places and took the gold with them and hid it in a very safe place."
The children -Gwynn and Hendel- exclaimed anxiously: "How exciting, mother!! Tell us more about it, please..."
"No!! It is about time for both of you to go to sleep!! You go to School tomorrow." Mom replied vigorously.
...And, the family left to rest until the next day.
To their surprise, Grannyīs grandchildren had the same kind of magical powers than she had. Hardly had Gwynn enjoyed the hottest part of the story when a golden swan entered the rear window and whispered horrible news in her ear: Granny was in troubles and her family and friends were the only ones who would be able to save her from a dangerous plight.
