If you don't know what an Internet forum is, we think you're in for a treat. Our forum is designed for posterity. That simply means the poetry and other literatures is going to be here for a very long time and be seen by many many people.
We think there is room for books and magazines on the Internet. Judging by the number of visitors going to the forums these days - you seem to agree.
I have devised this policy in an attempt to keep the sanity alive & well, and toxic drama to a minimum. This policy is basically a rules-of-the-road writeup on how our forum works and a few rules-of-thumb regarding acceptable etiquette the JPiC Administrator would like for all members to practice...
How Online Forums Work
If you've never used an Internet forum before, we've tried very hard to make the process easy and enjoyable. There are two ways to enjoy the forums - as a reader or as an active participant. If you want to become an active participant in the forums, posting comments on the poetry or posting your own poems, then you will need to Register as a new member.
Once you've registered, you are then a Member and can post in most of the forums. To reply to an existing message, look for the small icon that says "
Post A Comment." That will take you to a form where you can enter your comments. Your reply will become a part of the original message, forming what's called a thread.
If you'd like to start a new thread, by starting a discussion or posting a poem, look for the icon that says "
Start A Thread." This will, again, take you to a form where the text of your topic. It's really not any more difficult than that!

Regarding Forum Etiquette
We do ask that you abide by a few rules, most of which are simple common sense and courtesy.
- JPiC Forum doesn't censor, but please use common courtesy along with common sense when interacting with fellow forum members. (Treat people the way you would want to be treated.)
- Flaming is the act of posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. No FLAMING of other members. Harrassment of fellow board members will not be tolerated.
- JPiC Forum does have a section for "Adult-oriented/Mature-themed" jokes as well as the more mature writes... If you want to assert your humor by sharing crude & adult jokes - please post them in that section. Our adult sections are available only to registered members 18 years of age or older and/or by invitation.
- JPiC Forum takes copyright very seriously, so we insist that anything you post in the forums be either your own work or clearly marked, citing the author whenever possible. See the JPiC Copyright Policy for more info.
- Please try to confine your posts to the appropriate category. (i.e. Don't post discussions in the Poetry forums, and vice verse)
Additional info on forum categories may be found on the Poetry in Color Forum Site Map & RSS Feeds page...
- Select the most appropriate forum for your post, and please post in only one forum. Cross-posting wastes our limited resources and will result in all duplicates being deleted.
- If you have a large inventory of poems you've written we'd love to see them all - but, please, not all at the same time. Give the other poets room to post their material, too. **NOTE** At JPiC the rule of thumb is to post only one written work per started thread.
- We strongly suggest posting no more than two or three poems per day, then sit back and wait for comments on those. Spamming the board with your writing is frowned upon and will likely result in your posts being removed without notice.
- Don't unnecessarily bump your posts. B-U-M-P (Bringin Up My Posts) is when one is overly eager to have ones post commented on, so instead of waiting for the comment one adds a comment. The ADMIN/Moderator team will bump when necessary.
- The "Golden Rule" of online writing communities: Take the time to reply to the posts of your fellow board members. As in any give-and-take relationship - You get back what you put into it... Take the time to show love for others' writing works!
- **NOTE** Little one word replies to a writers work are DISCOURAGED! The author put time into creating & posting their piece... Likewise - One should take the time to leave more than the rather insulting one, two or three-word comment. We are writers right? We can string together two or three or four sentences of a comment in the spirit of sharing the poetic love right? Perhaps 5 sentences if we are feeling particularly generous or have perhaps been moved by a brilliant piece. I think yes! But just in case ==> CLICK HERE to see an example of "appropriate" feedback...
That's it! Let's all get along and have a fun time celebrating diversity with our typed words!
