I've joined this group today, and hope that I will find much useful information here, to guide my continuing journey through the world of poetry construction. I've been writing poetry since I was about 15, and my English teacher would mark me absent because I would write in class rather than listen to her. I still would rather write than listen, but I'm learning to do both at the same time. (I've reached the age of 68 now, and multi-tasking is becoming bothersome.)

Normally, I write a free verse kind of thing, with a bent toward Goddess worship. But I like to play with words and word formations, so I run off at the pen fairly often. Lately, as part of my membership in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), I've been attempting to write in more Medieval or Renaissance styles, especially Florentine sonnets, which has led me to Petrarch. I'm still trying to discern exactly what the "rules" for that form are, so I can create a true Italian sonnet.

Hi PATRICIA - what an interesting intro - Makes me even look that much forward to your writings. I see you've posted threads - so you know how forums work... We do have an immensely talented Community of Poets & Writers so feel free to ask for advice and give your own advice in return. Our Community atmosphere is a very relaxed one - so if you see an crazy folks like myself - pay no attention OR say shut up you crass Americana LOL
