HI,

I'm Latisha, i'm twenty-five years old; i'm from the Caribbean island Barbados (same as R & B star Rihanna). Not there now, on a quest to see the world. Married two years and have a daughter whose a year and two months, her name is Kytara. I have been dabbling in poetry since I was seventeen. I love anything to do with the arts, music, movies, theatre, writing, reading, traveling, etc, etc. In my community, I joined a 8-year-old literary arts organization called Voices: Barbados Writer's Collective, a month later I was this groups co-ordinator, a month after that I started my own group called BajeYout Poets Productions and was the first to introduce poetry slams to my country, started a trend, other organizations followed suit, after I stopped producing slams and read-ins. I produced over twenty-something shows between 2004- early 2005. After which, I produced my own magazine called BajeYout, only successfully printed two issues and a media kit, then I turned it into an online magazine, but after becoming a mom it became too much for me to do on my own. I recently published my first poetry book, "Words of a Poetriot" a long time dream come true. My favorite time of the year is Christmas, my favorite past time is going to the movies, my favorite t.v shows are Samantha Who?, Heroes, Life, Bionic Woman, Journey Man, House of Payne, The Closer. i am currently reading Joel Osteen Become a Better You. Three of my many, many aspirations are to see what the world has to offer (travel, experience many cultures), write many books the offers the kind of content that will help people and publish a very successful, possitive, informative, fun magazine. Now is that an introduction or what?
My greatest masterpiece is still under construction, but I am in no hurry, I’m just enjoying the journey:

Yes! Wonderful intro - You have many achievements to be proud of the most of all I'd dare say Kytara (beautiful name btw) At anyrate Welcome to the JPiC Community - So glad to have you join us - Your pic/avatar actually looks like my best friend Sissy when in highschool - Her smile always contained a bit of mystery and her eyes always twinkled like supernova or some shyt.... Anyway- Welcome! Please make yourself familiar with the JPiC Posting Policy - you'll find that we are a laidback Community of Artistes simply sharing in the joy of creating literature!

Mr. Olsteen I imagine has a very nice book - I've seen his shows and by far he is one of the best spreaders of Christ knowledge that I've perchance to see in a while - His sermons are so fresh AND he's easy on the eyes....

Now! I'm fond of saying I'm a pleasure loving BYTCH - so the House of Payne seems a little odd to me --- Don't think I've ever seen it actually - perhaps you can write a review of the show in the "cinema" section....

Again - Welcome - Enjoy AND Happy posting!

Jacquii.

his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Thank you so much, you really don't know how much it means to me to read those kinds of positive vibes. In Barbados, folks are not really generous with the positivity but they never hesitate if a negative comment is to be made. I am very proud of my accomplishments, even though I have not received any kind of recognition or thank-yous for it and I am very proud of myself. It shows me that I can accomplish anything if I really put my mind to it. Before I left Barbados, I saw how many of the individuals that first came to BajeYout Poets, shy and unsure have evolved and I say wow, I had something to do with that, but it really hurt when I tried to produce a magazine to highlight the talent and positive impact of the Barbadian youth and all these people disappeared. One of these early members even produced Slams after me and never acknowledges BajeYout for its contribution to Slam poetry in Barbados. To be honest guys, I wasn't in it for the glory, if you meet me, you'd know I am a behind-the-scenes type of person; I am one of those silly people who do things for the passion of it. But it really hurt how I was treated in the end. Just a thank-you would have sufficed. I know, you are wondering why I am telling you all of that, because you guys make it feel okay to be myself, that's a first for me.

Anyway, ya'll, thanks again. Please do me a favor and support me if you can in my book venture. Check of "Words of a Poetriot." a poetry anthology by me. The link is in the signature. This Christmas help a young poet/aspiring writer live out one of her dreams. Appreciate it with all my heart.

Sounds a little like me actually - That's tough luck though for Dude to have produced a mag and not even having given you credit for what you did to establish it - To that I just say roll your eyes and move on....

Can truly understand what you're saying though, especially as far as being a "behind the scenes" type person. I tell ya - poetry was my passion way before JPiC hit the scene - Now JPiC has become my passion and it's a thrill to welcome you again to the Community! We had a contest within the 1st few months of being online - A motto contest --- I'm thinking a good motto (from your words) would be: JPiC - Where the Poet Can Simply Be...

Anyway - kinda cheesy I know But yeah - whateva lol - Welcome and make yourself comfy and such - We do have a FABULOUS Community of talented Poets, Writers and Artistes - I think you'll fit just fine

Jacquii.
