Peace, one and all...

My name's Abdur Rahman and I'm a 30-something Englishman living in the valleys of South Wales, UK.

I'm married and have 2 young children, with a third on the way. I work in a university, in student welfare and live in Merthyr Tydfil.

I'm a Muslim by faith and am slowly walking the Sufi path, which is the spiritual path of Islam.

I enjoy reading poetry from a wide range of backgrounds, beliefs, etc and as far as writing my own is concerned, I've been writing for just short of a year now (after a break of some 10-15 years).

My own poetic influences include Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, Yunus Emre (a Turkish Sufi poet), Abdur Rahman Jami (a Sufi poet of Afghanistan), and others. I also enjoy more contemporary poetry, such as the Last Poets, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Maya Angelou and a whole host of others.

I look forward to sharing my poetry with you and to reading and enjoying what's on offer here, insha Allah (God willing).

Great introduction you have written! Now I am really looking forward to reading your poetry!
The site can be a little confusing at first but you will always find help as close as the chatbox! We are a friendly bunch here so do not hesitate to ask! Soon, like us, you will be calling JpicForum "HOME".
BTW - If you want to see someone's profile or send them a private message, just click on their name beside their avatar. Everyone tells new members to PM for help, but we often forget to tell them HOW to do this! LOL!
