Hello, writers of the world!

My name is R.J. Robledo. I am the editor of Wisdom Crieth Without (wisdomcriethwithout.com) , a paying market online magazine for traditional poetry and art. We pay no less than $25 for all accepted, original, previously unpublished poems and art. It is a bi-monthly magazine. So far, we've only published one issue (on January 31, 2012), but preparations are well underway for the upcoming issue, set to release on March 1, 2012. If any reading this are interested, please check out the magazine's submission guidelines.

I also have worked on my own poetry for years, and while it is far from astounding, I look forward to posting some of it here.

I look forward to conversing with you all!
Sincerely,
R.J. Robledo

Hi RJ and welcome you to JPiC!

I just browsed your site Wisdom Crieth Without and am really impressed. I'm curious though... I know the journal features traditional poetry. Does the concept of "traditional" mean ONLY verse of rhyme with rhythmic meter? Or perhaps some free verse is allowed in to the mix?

At anyrate - Welcome. Please familiarize yourself with the JPiC Posting Policy, particularly the Policy: Forum Etiquette section ((I'm working on condensing the policy into one thread...)) Feel free to edit your avatar, as well as update your profile to include your current info.

So... You're the editor of a traditional verse magazine. Does this mean that you only write traditional verse? I'm looking forward to reading your work! Hope you enjoy your stay

J.

I thank you for the warm welcom, MsJacquiiC. I'm glad you found Wisdom Crieth Without pleasant, however I am more than happy to tell you that the best is yet to come! The next issue will feature the work of an award-winning photographer who has done work for National Geographic and the United Nations, as well as the works of poets and artists from locations stretching from America to England to Poland. (shameless plug #1! All you Sonic the Hedgehog comic book fans should recognize that reference)

Concerning the style of poetry, yes, metrical and rhyming forms are the focus. I do not despise free verse, but seeing that most poetry periodicals focus on it, I found it best to found a site devoted to the forms that are not only typically rejected, but also the style I found the most moving.

Now, concering the poetry I write, yes, I have written predominantly in traditional forms. Rhyming iambic tetrameter is my personal favorite, followed by Shakespearean sonnets and blank verse (unrhymed iambic pentameter, like Milton's Paradise Lost) To my knowledge I have written only one poem in free verse, and even that bore some adherence to meter, rhyme, and consonance; it was also a disaster!

Anyway, I am of course very new here, and it may be some time before I get some of my work posted here. In the meantime, I once again thank you for your kindness.

You are most welcome! And thanks for the clarification. We had a sistersite Poetry-Defined.com online quite some time ago. The focus was entirely on poetic forms as can be seen in our Types of Poetry section here at JPiC. Unfortunately the site did not survive the horrible mismanagement of our previous host. 100s of hours of work put into a site design and content postings, only to lose the entire site because of an inept web host ARG... Super frustrating to be sure, but defininely a learning experience, both poetically and web-developmentally. It was a lesson in self-taught appreciation for diversity of poetic form.

At anyrate - the next WCW issue sounds intriguing! Hell, the entire concept sounds intriguing, as most journals do tend focus on the blank and free verse/ avante-garde poetry, as opposed to the more structured forms. It's a shame really, as depending on the poets' skill, metered and rhymed poetry can be quite innovative. Hmmm - I may have some work for your consideration

I see you posted a poem, will get to it shortly. You've piqued my curiosity though ==> So feel free to post your free verse piece if you want to.

J.

Well, MsJacquiiC, I have posted my "free verse" attempt under my "Poems of R.J. Robledo" thread. Be forewarned ----it is rather amateurish and...perhaps forcedly angsty (though it does reflect my feelings of society).

The real reason why I am posting here, however, is to bring attention to the fact that Wisdom Crieth Without, Issue #2 has been released. It features a very nice collection of art and poetry from North America to Asia to Europe. There is some very adept talent on display here ----don't miss it.

The latest issue can be found at wisdomcriethwithout[dot]com.

Also, remember that this is a paying market, and we are always open to submissions, as long as they abide by the Submission Guidelines listed on the site.

Thank you all for your interest.
