Default Africa Rising solo Started This Thread
A third world country they said
before they fled:
Crime, unemployment and HIV
Racial Inequity

The sun that scorched us in the past
has sunk at last.
But what can we do with this burnt, barren land?
Covered in sand.

In the faces of the youth,
see the truth
Hope, intelligence and vibrant energy
A cosmic synergy.

Surely Fate must have another song to sing:
Africa’s Rising!
Like a full moon in the middle of the night
Shining, clear and bright.

Nice poem, solo.

(I saw a very distrurbing documentary on TV about the water running out in Africa. We are destroying our planet and the third-world is getting the worst of it.)

Thanks for a well-crafted poem that is a joy to read.

I have watched where Africa was the cradle of civilisation. I think it may also be the grave of civilisation.

As we sit in our Western Homes, worrying about mortgages and the rising price of oil, people are dying beneath a blood red sky.

There are drugs that can abate some of the symptoms of HIV. But the Africans are still having to pay inflated western prices for these drugs. It's wrong.

If we share a heritage, then we must share a future. Drugs for free NOW!

hear hear !!! Stuart..... but then what would the druggists live off of if not the sweat of man's pain? They have us by the balls.

I cry to see the devastation ...... the inhumanity man commits in the name of ..... what? freedom... I wish everywhere that mankind could live and let live. Stark and honest write Solo.. keeping it real so no one can misread the situations. Thank you for sharing...

Mysty battling demons on the run,
taking seeds of strength from fights
to plant in those who do not have
the strength to believe in themselves.

hi nikos!
we are not out of water....i was merely using drought as a psychological metaphor...the passing of apartheid in south africa...the lack of faith of people in this country...not believing that it will ressurrect itself...the youth are the key...the human potential is there...if only it were harnesseed properly...

thanx for your kind compliments

this poem was my hope that it could become the pinnacle of civilization...african people have the potential to make things work...but only time will tell whether it blossoms
or not
