The dying ember years
ago was
a spark that
burned within
unseen
except by
a young lady who saw, felt and drew her life’s
blood from the talent of a few
among the many without voices…
somehow she knew
and she made me unshackle the power
denying it no longer
she gave me the lust for words and
I gave her the glow
of discovery

For many years now
the flame has burned
sometimes brighter than others
deadly cold for three years
as I spiraled into the darkness
saved each time by some inner strength
I never even knew I had ~
this is not a hobby
it is life
because without the flame
it would be dark
forever
