THE BEAUTY OF THE NIGHT

Unto this night
At length do I speak
I define it beauteous
Whilst others proclaim it bleak

No sooner would I invoke this malcontent
Than reproach what would transpire
But this night overwhelms me
And evil is whatever men may conspire

Victim of my pendulous nature
I know never can I refrain
From this nocturnal envy
To feel the beauty that in it remains

To live my life accordingly
However fate amends
As destiny runs its course
A beginning unto its end

If I had half the beauty of the night
No more than would allow
I would cherish this placid amenity
And never, it, would I unhallow

Wow very old world .... but wonderful use of .... I can see Poe .... his bleakness and darkness here and lol I can see me.

Thus was I enchanted
into e'er darkening hours
calling beasts to mine heel
I wouldst be wild and wilderness
wouldst be mine at moontides.

Hmm ... looks like you inspired me some.... Thank You

I have to agree with Mysty - indeed, a very "old" English piece. Somehow the beauty of the night seems an overcast, underworld beauty, catering more to the "pendulous nature" you revealed because it seems as though the write wants to be absorbed, and become a part of the night..in all its dark glory. This piece invokes the shadow of the night I feel, rather than reveal the moonlit artistry of a magical place that others would see.

I really like the pace you set and the wording you use, True Blue!!

Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible."
