Default A certain kind of demise erikestabrook Started This Thread
there's a tunnel into a void,
shows forever make your choice,
there's a light, a hole,
a bartered soul, a bridge, a ledge,
and angels wings,

There's a voice that becons so,
reaches until you feel whole,
There's a plain that looks like
the best childhood days in your memory saved,

Should you give, you must decide,
either ways a certain kind of demise,
one of light, one of dark,
one of mystery when you part,

They say heaven is a pretty glow,
where everything is perfect,
well that leads me nowwhere searching,

I like the life here on Earth,
with kinds of strife,
I put my best foot forward and changed,
now I sit here in dismay,

This isn't easy,
I say that hell is more like home,
its not the fires,
or the devil eating at your bones,
See what heaven holds and still,
I'm better dead and have no will,

From both places, peopel I knew,
I'm not mistaken by my view,

it sounded easy, when they fed,
me dreams and reason,
now I see heaven holds a place for me,
though its not where I want to be.

The Following Text Is Quoted:
They say heaven is a pretty glow,
where everything is perfect,
well that leads me nowwhere searching,
A bit cynical aren't we ERIK? -----> I love this poem - It describes my mood of lately perfectly. I suppose we all wonder...

I tend to agree with a song I heard the other day: "If there's a Heaven - I don't believe in it - Spent to much of my life living in Hell" Kinda harsh - but nobody ever told me anything about life being the most beautiful bouquet of rare pigmy orchids -----> Sometimes I hate it here.

So - I suppose you can see why I am really feeling this poem - Nicely written = Thanx for sharing it with us!

Jacquii.

ps - Just reread your poem - another lines stood out to me:

There's a plain that looks like
the best childhood days in your memory saved,

I guess it's a very good thing indeed to have memory of better days. Cause with that memory is hope (however dim) for better days to come.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

yeah isn' t it odd that with all that's persuading him he still doesn't like heaven, I like that song your talking of lyrically would like to hear it sometime,
is it a country song?, it is at least rumored as true that soem people just choose to neglect the after-life and not choose at all becoming a unwhol ebeing for the rest of their existence, me in reality i think I'd take heaven but you know what if its luster wears off after years after all the way the church makes up everything, the comception of heaven an dheaven might be nothing like each other which goes for hell as well, gald you liked this piece msJ thi swas one of those where I just wanted to throw a wrench into people's beliefs, I know how you like doing that as well, if anyone actually believes heaven is as church people make it out to be they should do like that quote on here and see if there's space to rent, really heaven could be anything, some day when I'm a better writer I'll write my own version of what I think heaven is and its gonna be masterful,
