I’D LIKE TO FLY
LOVE IS
AS FREE AS THE EAGLE
THE KEY
BEYOND THE BLUE HORIZON
TO MY
HIGH ABOVE THE CLOUDS
UNKNOWN
WITHOUT A THOUGHT OF HUMANITY
HEART
OR A PRESSING CARE
AND SO
OF THE DAILY EVENTS
YOU SEE
WHICH BRING ME BACK TO GROUND
I AM JUST
EACH AND EVERY BORING DAY
A PRISONER
SOARING HIGHER AND HIGHER
AWAITING
NEVER REACHING THE END
THE JAILER
OR CATCHING THE BLUES
TO COME
AH! SOAR YOUNG EAGLE, NOW
AND UNBIND
THEY’LL BRING YOU DOWN SOMEDAY.
THESE CHAINS.

We are all the sum of our destinies

Kit, this is a lovely poem...oh, how wonderful it would be to soar like an eagle...one of the dreams we often have as humans, I think.

Great write!

WOW!!!!! Kit

How wonderfully clever!!!

Three poems all within one.

The whole poem is super! The imagery is flawless! " The Eagle"
Then starting with the first line and reading every other line is another truly exciting read! "To Fly Like The Eagle Soars"

And THEN I read ever other line starting from the second line. "Love Is The Key"

Very, very clever. I LOVED IT!!!!

What an inspiration indeed. I think I will try my hand at one of these. Three perfect poems with one!

Fabulous write!

Default Thank You Therese and Sally! Kit Carson Started This Thread
Thank you both. Sally you may be the first person to see all three poems without coaching. This was an experiment that I tried in 1983. I just this afternoon found my store of poems from 1975 and 1976 and my journals from 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1986. There are other lost poems all through the 90s. Wow. I looked the original up and found it written just as it is here. No draft, no typos, no rubouts. I envy my younger self! I also just discovered that I censored the original version of "To Touch The Sky", took some bite out of it. I'll have to think on that one.

Kit,

I enjoy poems that force us to read in-between-the-lines! My Fav:

Thanks Jerry. When read straight through, the reader must supply thier own pauses, parentheses and make a few leaps of faith.

Kit I too love your poem within a poem making a poem, and read between the lines. Masterful and cleverly executed, yes. Your Eagle spoke to me and I envisioned the flight and flew. I also felt "Love is the Key" in the veins. You continue to amaze me with your talent that I cannot put it all into words at times, and this is one of those times. Loved it! An excellent rating!

Thank you Kim. I maybe should have pressed harder in the 80s to get these published, but anyway here they are. I am fixing to type up "Dream Love", my most abstact piece ever. LOL, I can't tell if it is gold or pyrite.

Default To Touch The Sky (Uncensored) Kit Carson Started This Thread
I tried to reach the sun
But I took the high road
And fell far short
In agony and pain
Disgusted, I flew away
To escape this evil world
I took the short cuts
And got the bad cuts
I passed between the
Pearly gates and the heathens’ hates
And had to choose one
I remembered to touch the sky
And I chose life
But I kept flying
And messing up that life
And, hey, I'm still flying
I'll be forever airborne
Space cadet
I'm in a different ship now
But it seems I'm always in
The same ole boat
I tried to reach the sun
Oh, God! I’m melting!
Why do I keep f**king up?
Touch the sky, damn it!
Touch the sky
Religion, the opiate of the masses
Why don’t we ever listen?
I’ll take it straight up please
Let me tell you all
Sitting here in my window sill
It all comes clear
Life is a tragedy
We all must play
But I ask you
Here and now
When do we close it down?
I tried to reach the sun
Forgot to touch the sky
I took the high road
But I never leaned out the window
