Default Emancipation (Requiem: September 11, 2001) MsJacquiiC Started This Thread
I was inspired to post this poem after reading Paul Dwyer's poem September 11
Perhaps if there is enough interest - I will make a sub-forum exclusively for September 11 poetry - Please PM me if interested!
Jacquii.

Emancipation
(Requiem: September 11, 2001)

Traps and ambushes
Svengali-type tricks
Hues of crimson; pewter shrapnel
exploding like cheap sparkling sticks –

Family muted like Dizzy’s
trumpet blowing taps
for the world
to hear, to feel,
to know, to see
that we here in the U.S. of A
are not entirely free; that
we here in the U.S. of A
are not all-exempt exempt
from the woes of jealous fascists
who death-blows,
tapping into our very psyche
trying to ruin
our solid stride
towards TRUE freedom:
emancipation
from
wanna-be
captors.

This poem appears in my poetry manuscript Obsession With Technicolor: Preface to a Memoir in Epiphany

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Dear Ms Jacquii,
This was some write also. Very revealing in emotion. You speak of truth, emancipation, politics, and consequence. I am bothered by the anniversary that is coming, and the recent developments that have occcurred. This was definitely a must read! Thank you for sharing and yes, out of respect alone, please do make a category for Sept 11th poems.

Kim

Hey KIM - thanx for reading and commenting on this piece - Yeah anniversary seems to be coming up rather quickly. I find strength in knowing that it's been so long since the dastardly was done - Just a matter of time before the wrongs start righting

Unfortunately there has not been any PMs concerning the Sept. 11 category - so....

Anyway thanx again - your comments always appreciated

Jacquii.
