The fresco (Italian meaning "fresh") is a type of mural painting. In one fresco painting technique (buon, or pure, fresco) a fresh wet layer of plaster is applied to a prepared wall surface. The pigments used in the painting is mixed with water so that it soaks into the plaster. When dry, a chemical bond forms between the paint and the wall surface and they permanently fuse together.

Enigmatic
(spontaneous fresco on yesteryear)

... to know camaraderie
that we knew in youth
where we still laugh and wish
in our minds,

in our dream frescos:
rascals and old reruns
of dukes in hazardous melee
intertwined with stooges' three
in sublime melody
playing dozens of tricks
and loving every minute
of spontaneous schtick
and melange of wacky wit;
easy baked cookies
in ovens of plastic.
reality

fiasco:
no whispers of death's tragic
nor politicians' enigmatic
words of crooked magic
no stacked weapons for the masses,
their word's poison gasses,
for the lower income class is
blinded, they have no glasses
nor bobble head dollies at their sides.

yea! I wish camaraderie
we knew in youth
where we still laugh. and wish
now in our hearts.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Dang, Jac. I haven't read your poems in a while and this one definitely hit.

"fiasco:

no stacked weapons for the masses,
their word's poison gasses,

blinded, they have no glasses
nor bobble head dollies at their sides."

I feel that stanza. I like that you talk abut political issues in such a way that it's not so ugly. When I read that part, I thought yup, how true.

And the stanza right before it, where you mention the good old times, the innocent times and then you slowly dove into reality, the fiasco as you say it, I thought you did your thang here. Excellent.

Hey FASHA - Thanx for your kind words! This poem was actually "homework" for one of the writing groups I belong to. The objective was to write a poem including the following lines:

where we still laugh and wish
in our minds

So immediately I thought of the times now versus the times then... Politics came immediately to mind, and thus the spontaeous fresco.

I'm glad you like this piece - Thanx

Jacquii.

I concur what Ms FaSha said in her reply. How powerful the words are. They blow paralell to the strength of the wind, carrying your message, with hints of politics in tact. You definitely wrote from the depth of an abyss here. Great Write! Thank you for sharing this.

Hey KIM - making the rounds this afternoon LOL - Thanx again for your comments! Yeah - I wanted to bring something different to the table with this - the juxtaposition between the "good ole days" and the "here and now" is such a distinct thing to me - so wanted to add it to paper ALSO got an honorable mention for this one YAY! Thanx again!

BTW - We miss you

Jacquii.
