As Daylight Last Sparks (An Epitaph On Man)



Without remorse time wistfully swirls
Yet bravely we shout with glee
Dance and sing harmoniusly
As fleeting life unfurls

And of man, there is but one fate I trust:
How fate's webs are wound;
All men, by common thread bound,
Shall fade and turn to dust

Dangling upon the thresholds of twilight
Until final rest I am lain
I shall gleam and chime, without shame
Quivering, swaying 'til heart's delight

And shall live this tragic spoof
As daylight last sparked
Upon final quest did I embark
For no longer I feared the truth

There, upon an enchanted lake
I saw, finally, through the mist,
A glimpse of the will-o-wisp
And no longer my heart did ache

Countless tales of woe and strife
Now I feel the celestial bliss
Of sleep's lulling kiss
Capsized vessel on the sea's of life

And so cooly rang the bell
Thus ends this febrile life
My heart had ceased its painful writhe
One last thing, I've to tell:

Do not lament over me
Over blood that was spilt
How unbloomed flowers did wilt
For twilight's eye doth, clearly, see
