Divided, more than anything is what we are
Lines drawn between us
An artist with so many thoughts
Too much to collaborate, beauty deserves to be separate
We are all humans, just as all stars are stars
No matter how close or far they are
But our eyes filled with lines can only see the distance
Rather than the journey to get there
We act in resistance, as if all had disappeared
Selfish beings, sentient only by design
But we become what we chose, so many of us are blind
With eyes not ocular
Seeing only in squares
Not able to bend or fold the images that are there
Lines are all that you have come to know
Divided by your reality
Your choices made you so.

Nice piece! A little bit of deepness for early morning Tuesday. Seeing only in squares - I was just thinking about a similar concept earlier actually. Except for the analogy would be more checkers vs. chess, as opposed to ocular vs. tunnel vision of sorts LOL.

Interesting metaphors you use "Lines are all that you have come to know/ divided by your reality/ Your choices made you so" - that's a 3 deep lines right there - but what about the concept of being merely a reflection, a product of your teachings?

Anyway - I'm surely overthinking this nice piece - It happens sometimes. Good poetry should inspire personal reflection. Thanks for the share.

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---
