They stole her horse,
on her two legs
she stands alone
searchin' for her roan,
said of her passionate
womanly forces,
beds married women,
causes burning houses divorces.
Hanny Caulder,
huntin' after midnight
in the town of Bridgewater
Fiery passion comes to
haunt her, finds her roan
burned to the ground,
saddle charred, note found,
"Ride this," signed
The husbands of Bridgewater.
Corral lights up from the reflection,
punishing womanly affection,
happens to be the sheriff running for re-election
whose wife was in Hanny's bed,
the town is on fire,
Hanny Caulder pulls the roan's hot
skeleton with barbed wire,
drags it to the center of town Bridgewater,
"I've had every one of your wives!
Burn Bridgewater Burn!
You got the wrong roan, you bastards,
this horse I boarded for the sheriff running for
re-election. Ride this, you murderer, I'm
going back to your wife!"
