Hellish Eyes LW Barker Started This Thread
I wake up in the still of night,
to see not one, but two hellish eyes
staring at me from the foot of my bed.

I sit frozen in terror, as they move closer to me
I cry out - "Please God no!"
But how can this be?

I scream and jump up out of my sleep
"'Tis only a nightmare dear" -
says a voice from the foot of my bed;
From not one, but two hellish eyes.

Hey LW - This poem is quite eerie - Has a Stephen King feel to it... I'd love to know your inspiration/motivation from whence came these words!

Very interesting piece - Thanx for sharing it!

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

From whence came these words? Well they are the result of a nightmare I had after which they were written Stephen King is one of my favorite writers so I am well pleased by your comparison. Thank you.

Great poem. I enjoyed it a lot too. It's a strange scenario, but you lace with such subtle humor that I found myself grinning like a jackass at the end.
