Here They Are
It rested there, still upon the air,
but not as if upon stilts which defied
the weight of it's all too significant share.
And our eyes were fixed, forever there,
much as a pin on a map of a mountaintop
with this unearthly thing holding them there.
This curious assembly, we viewed from afar,
which appeared to dismount as if to depart the air
'tween we and the stars,
for the ground where we are,
standing transfixed by this ushering star,
and hoping to see one move,
then do, but deny it's portent.
But now we know,
for here they are.
