I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
pewter-hued goblets, primitive scorched
handled pristine ukulele bronze
uncouth Negro magic for unruly locks
rhythm placates infamy feathers, knuckled fists
water relegates laden coups guano entices
dustpans eradicate overtrumped bars (freedom)
freedom intricate testimony baroque wane
cerulean shadows judge benches ambrosia
primitive castanets earthly rhythm earns
solo-tossed toupee, various sustained afterthoughts:
embellish skeleton memories, conventional
bongos’ lust. Spontaneity abodes fait accompli
conversational thrusts stalker bows at embassy
ecstasy, the stalker bows (song) stalker bows (song) stalker bows
(song); seeds arpeggio, promiscuity waves rampant
succinct aphorism cerulean shadows, bars of pewter
know the trumpet blow
tweets, branches, beaks & pecks, doll houses
imminent rascal perseverance woe triumph
cornucopia proclamation, oboe, embouchured bassoon
swoon the flute airs, temptations freedom & emancipation
freedom complacent infamous, known, trotted from:
feathers, caws
Yeah! cardinal’s dissonance quarrels with mercy, redemption
enjoys the posing gabs, verbosity, the redundant
(I blow but a kiss)
the song…

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
since you told me about the story this is a poem with a strong vocab and also a history for you, it makes sense that that would go in since it is such a memory the kind that could be shared and devolope into others memories

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
Ms J...,
This started off
feeling as if the
reader was caged.
Which felt odd,
at least to me.
' wasn't sure '
could review this
write...
cause of the way
it made me feel.
The Following Text Is Quoted:
primitive castanets earthly rhythm earns
solo-tossed toupee, various sustained afterthoughts:
embellish skeleton memories, conventional
bongos’ lust. Spontaneity abodes fait accompli
conversational thrusts stalker bows at embassy
ecstasy, the stalker bows (song) stalker bows (song) stalker bows

An emotional rush...!!
Thanks for the
read.

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
Thanx ERIK & JEEZ for your commentary... There is a story behind this poem actually - I won't get into it with vivid detail - but I was thinking of how when Pope John Paul II passed.... And the interesting replacement... How I would like to just fly away LOL
At anyrate - I appreciate you comments and love for this very very abstract freedom-write
Jacquii.

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
Ms. J - my jaw is hanging! I think I need to read this at least a hundred times...every single line for me is a separate poem in and of itself, and inspires many, many new writes...this is stupendous and I don't know if I can even wrap my brain around it...hehe!! It all meshes together as passionately, driven LIFE in all it's glorious kaleidoscope of energy and feeling and color and good and bad.

masterfully written Abstract!

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
Dear Ms Jacquii ,
I am totally speechless......I have never seen anything quite like this before! These are the words, in my humble opinion that jump out at me instantly, upon completion of reading several times. Brilliant, amazing vocabulary, divine word combinations, strength, pain, overcome, sassy, my life, free, and omnipotent. The juxtaposition of the words you have selected to scribe with are just intangible to me. I am left in a state of blissful awe, and just staring at the screen.....Though an abstract, there is allot of " YOU" in this piece, Ms Jacquii.
The stanza that spoke to me was the following----->
tweets, branches, beaks & pecks, doll houses
imminent rascal perseverance woe triumph
cornucopia proclamation, oboe, embouchured bassoon
swoon the flute airs, temptations freedom & emancipation
freedom complacent infamous, known, trotted from:
feathers, caws
This stanza really stands out for me, and brings water to my eyes, as my brother Ariono would say. When I read this piece, I really equated the title with this stanza as well. There is so much strength, passion, a healing (if you will), heart, truth, and let freedom reign as you sing, in this stanza to me, as it etched in my cranium forever. I really enjoyed this write Ms Jacquii.....Brilliant, and thank you so much for sharing it with us! Another " Excellent" rating!

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
OMFG - this is an emotional poem for me - I just read both of your commentaries MS N & MS KIM ---- My eyes are moist on the verge of misty... this poem is a poem that (unlike most poems) is meant to be read, spoken sparingly... The vocabulary was chosen neither sparingly, nor lightly.
MS N - I'm glad you see the cinematic effect I was going for. And my dear PAINTEDDIARY - you comments made me weep. AND NO! It's not the beer
At anyrate - enough of the nostalgia LOL - I really truly appreciate YAWL taking the time to enjoy this poem - It's not an "easy" poem by any stretch of the imagination and requires not only reading ability, but knowledge of perseverance-woe.
Thanx,
Jacquii.

BTW - I just realized the link I'd put for the abstract definitive on Poetry-Defined.com was incorrect..... Anyway - below is the page:

Re: I Know Why The Caged Bird IS
very interesting....
many images..
flashing though, even though I don't understand it all, it rushes through me, senselessly, undeniably something else I have not seen before.
thanks for it.
