“A Legacy”

Built upon this mountain
I walk through its first snow fall
Whiter than white
Purer than angels breath
Undiluted
As the clean mountain air
~
Who would ever know?
The purest of white
This first winter snow
Would be mixed
With death
Lying upon her snow
~
A full moon shines bright
Casting shadows
By Gods painted sky
~
White Mountain shakes
With anger
Gods’ vale
Sheds tears
~
Mans innocence
Already condemned
~
This valley
I look upon
Embraced by mountains
Have eyes
~
My darkest hour
Walking through
Bloodstained snow
Where shall I go?
With blood on my hands
~
Looking down
Into the eye
Of a buck
His antlers
Rise high into the clouds
The one she loves
Taken away from her
~
The sun rises far above the ground
Above me
The snow that covers
The ground I stand on
Melts away
Running into streams
Nourishing
Gods’ valley
Showing the fragrance
Images of spring
~
Soiled blood
Engraves thyself
With the fruits
Of
Mother Nature
~
Spring turns into summer
Summer turns into fall
Falls autumn colors
Grace
Gods’ valley
Mixed with the shadows
Of his painted sky
~
What has come
Has passed
But
The memory still remains the same
Flowing with the winds of change
Ever so gently
Through out the autumn leaves
~
She stands on soiled ground
Missing the one she loves
~
Flowing clouds
Casting shadows
She has a new fur coat
Alone prepared
For her first winter storm
~
Snow falling all around her
Blankets
What was, once pure
Is now dark and soiled
With innocent blood
~
Driven by the purest of all storms
Once again
Covering the dead
Preparing the birth
Of
A new season
A legacy
For one to remember

The sunrises
Unfolding light onto darkness
Warmth embraces
"Mother Nature"
The sunsets
Showing us
Gods
Painted sky

Well, you've gone and done it again!!! Riveting, phenomenal...I didn't know where it was going at first, but it went.... Terrific scenery, a tad sad for the doe, though.....
Your descriptive voice is loud and clear, Art.....

Nice Arthur,

I read this as journey, where man challenges the creulty of nature. Survival a must, but not killing without regret.

Love this scene:

"The sun rises far above the ground
Above me
The snow that covers
The ground I stand on
Melts away
Running into streams
Nourishing
Gods’ valley
Showing the fragrance
Images of spring"

It's like rolling film in fast motion - showing nature's life cycle.
The images in this poem are vivid, and there is a lot to look at. I had a clear sense progression through time as you moved from one image to the next.

*sniff* I feel bad for the poor deer =(
But it's a lovely poem telling a sad tale =)

My favorite stanza:

The Following Text Is Quoted:
A full moon shines bright
Casting shadows
By Gods painted sky
