Poetry itself used to be a necessary evil
Until it got you in stripes singing power to the people.
Legacy it used to go right along with wisdom
Now it goes without vision
To those who pay a lofty sum.

We were molded from the Earth
Everyone of us unique,
Until they created higher philosophies
That robbed us of our speech
A democracy of leaders can lead us through the fray
Who form their own ideas, and know no other way.

Until we choose to rise
Our rights will be denied,
And low we stand like kittens
Seeking power with no realization
Of where power starts and how it corrupts
We all say we're a creator
What they tell us is enough.

An outsource of life,
God's holy, forsaken world
Why is death not even enough to break us out of this mold?

Dear Erik,

Such attention this poem demands! I could not pick out a favorite anything without quoting the entire poem. If I had to pick fav lines, the above highlighted seem to linger for me...such power and color in those lines! This poem does indeed make one think and could very easily be turned into a prose piece or a storem, however it jumps with radiance as a poem. The message is clear and one may be tempted to re-evaluate their path to some degree as well. Awesome take on the concept and a message full of vision on the front line....AWESOME!

Kim
