Ode To El Pollo Loco
Ode To Crazy Chicken
by Joy Hmura
The chicken clucked with great surprise
Glassy gaze and crooked eyes
Bucked beak and downy feathers
He seemed a bit under the weather
He was from a market, old and worn
So I took him home that very morn
I went to the stove to brew him some coco
I set him down and he went quite loco
I remember back in the day
I got my thrills from steak n’ eggs
Who would have thought
I would have bought
A Crazy Chicken
He bumped into the my dressing table
And attempted to stand but fell unstable
He clucked like my aunt at the opera
Screeching high, voice improper
So finally, my patience thin
I smiled with a malicious grin
I kicked him in his Behind O’ Fuzz
And behold a prince stood where he was
I remember back in the day
I got my thrills from steak n’ eggs
Who would have thought
I would have bought
A Crazy Chicken
This prince, he stood, about six foot
Had downy hair and smelled quite good
Yet he turned around and there it was
That same ol’ behind full of fuzz
Now this would just not do at bit
So I kicked him again in that same ol' pit
He clucked and yelled, like lottery winner
Then transformed into a turkey dinner.
I remember back in the day
I got my thrills from steak n’ eggs
Who would have thought
I would have bought
A Crazy Chicken
So this is my tale from beyond the farm
And for that chicken, I meant no harm
And for those of you who are filled with dread
Just smile and remember that I’m well-fed
I remember back in the day
I got my thrills from steak n’ eggs
Who would debate
That I did ate
That Crazy Chicken
