Price of Love
I must remind you again, this is part of my book i'm trying to have published so don't tell anyone outside of the forum about this or anything like that,
Price Of love
Its embedded in my head again,
the price of love is loss,
Its staring in the mirror, I can,
look but your not near,
Folded like a napkin, so neat was my regret,
I turned it into a sculpture,
So I never will forget,
If everything has a cost, I fear,
I shouldn't hold anything close,
I should just look away and let,
some sucker pick up the cost,
destruction plagues my mind,
like a burning building that I can't escape,
This guy is screaming help,
but it is just too late,
Its wearing on my skin,
and making my blood thin,
pretty soon the only thing that I'll take,
is the medicine,
The price of love is fate,
when it hits you the time starts,
until you are replaced,
I can't keep you with me,
I'll have nothing to hold,
The price of love is
your soul although its only borrowed.

Re: Price of Love
Once again, your words are so pretty! And I definately know the feeling. I think we all do, which only makes the poem that much better. It's great to be able to relate to what you're reading! Like always, I just couldn't stop reading! Love the great work, keep posting!

Re: Price of Love
Good write, Erik! I could feel the hopelessness and the yearning coming through your words. Though the price of love be high, the rewards of having loved and being loved far, far overcomes any cost in the long run! This has a nice beat to it and I liked the imagery of "folded like a napkin, so neat was my regret". You've got some good talent, poet!

Re: Price of Love
hmmmm - This is almost a haunting write ERIK - You're words are a catalyst that insights some kinda regret almost. Regret of never loving - because you'll end up holding the shattered pieces of your own heart as those that have punked you from ever knowing love, sit around laughing and making miserable noises....
If that even makes sense LOL ------> I don't know if I can quite agree with the message of your poem, as I of the school of thought "It's better to have loved and lost to never have loved at all..."
Anyway - Do tell of your motivation for penning such a piece...
As always though - the style of your writing is quite beautiful, even though the tone somber.
At anyrate - thanx for sharing
Jacquii.

Re: Price of Love
Well Jaqui Your abit older than me, my school of thought is just what I stated,
although it is hard to ignore that famous quote as its so powerful, My inspiration for writing this was allot of things, thinking about how its like to be unloved although I'm not, Mainly I was thinking about some of my friends husband who are at war in Iraq and how they would probably feel, but I only mixed in alittle bit of that since their strong woman and support their husband, I don't entrirely understand myself all my influences that would attribute to writing, I think mainly I wanted to mix in longing with a darker kind of wit its fun to play with both sides as a poet its goo dnot to get too stuck on one idea the idea that inspires us at the time is what makes our poetry, Which is why I would have no problem writing one with your perspective beter to have loved at all, but right now its not really where my mind is and I have to follow that, thanks for reviewing me alltree being told that I'm talented is really more than I expected to hear from anybody now it just fills my heart and although what I write may be contrary the love of poetry and friendleness we have really does stick to me thanks ladies
