Scarlet
Don't let what the lines say fool you, this poem has a different meaning behind each sentence. Can you guess it? And when i say this is an original nursery rhyme, i didn't derive it from any nursery rhyme... it's just suppose to be looked upon as a twisted little thing. Bah i'm confusing everyone >.<
Sharp silver ecstasy,
Little pink tattoos,
Cherry red wonderland,
Sparkling gray infuse,
Enchanted storybook tales,
Beautifully flowing creek,
Of Scarlet! Of Scarlet!
Lest you be swayed to sleep,
Curiously gazing stare,
Upon the enlightening incision,
Naïve little smile,
Another Scarlet decision,
Ignorant minds flourish,
Soar upon a star,
Twinkle, Twinkle; Scarlet flows,
A routine so bizarre,
Play a Scarlet melody,
No don’t get addicted!
Broken nails claw,
At a death that was predicted,
Scarlet’s in control!
The little puppets dance,
Cherry red wonderland,
Is under a sinful trance,
Little children frolic,
Gray skies form,
Sharp little ecstasy,
Humble minds torn,
Now my little ones; off to sleep,
Lest my storybook be read,
For the last time that book was opened,
Their twisted fates were dead.

Re: Scarlet
As i pointed out when i first wrote this poem, it had a meaning other than what it said. Since only two people understood that it was very morbid.. i'm posting what each line meant....
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the pleasure a cutter feels from the razorblade...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the scars left behind after razorblade cut. If you don't know only a razorblade will leave pink scars... scissors and knives leave darker scars that look a bit brown.
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the blood that flows from a deep cut...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the razorblade and blood colliding
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Enchanted storybook tales,
It's talking about the diaries of the cutters who have written about their inner most morbid feelings
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Beautifully flowing creek,
It's talking about a cutter whose striked a vein and the blood is non-stop
The Following Text Is Quoted:
This was a hint for the line above...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Lest you be swayed to sleep,
By 'swayed to sleep' it's really talking about death...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about a cutters eye expression looking at the deep cut
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Upon the enlightening incision,
Again this was a hint...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the cutters who cut deeper believing they won't die
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Another Scarlet decision,
Another hint....
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the idiots who think they understand us (cutters) and label us. There's so many of them...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's comparing the experience a cutter feels to that of soaring among stars
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Twinkle, Twinkle; Scarlet flows,
Another hint...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about how others would look upon cutting as alien
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the cutters playing a melody with the razorblade. Even though you really don't hear anything but the razor ripping skin what we mean by melody is just the idea behind it... it's a silent melody only we hear...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Cutting is addicting... what else can be said?
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the other cutters who lose a friend from cutting...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
At a death that was predicted,
Everyone knows that cutting is a death sentence in most cases... that's what it's talking about.
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the blood addiction controlling the cutter. It happens, sadly. You lust for blood and your mind pushes you to do what you wouldn't do.
The Following Text Is Quoted:
The little puppets dance,
It's reffering to the cutters because to our minds we're nothing but puppets...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Again it's talking about the blood that flows from a deep cut...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Is under a sinful trance,
Everyone knows cutting is a sin... so it's saying that we're sinful basically
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the cutters before they were cutters... when they were so innocent and happy
The Following Text Is Quoted:
This is a hint and a foreshadowing of their dark future...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about the pleasure a cutter feels from the razorblade...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
It's talking about those cutters who were once humble and sane losing all sanity and everything.
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Now my little ones; off to sleep,
This was meant to give emphasis to the 'nursery' theme...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Lest my storybook be read,
This was meant to give emphasis to the 'nursery' theme...
The Following Text Is Quoted:
For the last time that book was opened,
It's talking about the sorry asses who ever became curious in cutting
The Following Text Is Quoted:
Their twisted fates were dead.
It's talking about the outcome of their curiousity...
As you can see this poem has a very dark and deep meaning behind it....

Re: Scarlet
Yes Riha...I can see that I NEVER would have figured this one out...not having a clue of that world...you know, looking back, growing up in Belize I think we were so concerned about being able to have enough to eat every day, and making sure we could find clothes to wear that didn't look too much like the hand-me-downs they were (probably from the US - haha!) that me and my friends never for one day even gave a thought to doing away with ourselves - it never even came on the horizon of our lives...and I think that's such a sad, sad situation...to be trapped in a life that's not nourishing and encouraging you daily. Well, not saying that mine was, but I try to make sure that my children's are! I look back now and laugh at it, but life was so matter-of-fact that if I got a nose bleed and sent to tell my mom, she would send back saying "it's not going to last forever...get over it"...I can never remember ever getting a hug or a kiss (she never got that close except to help me change or spank me! haha!) but I knew that my mom would absolutely kill for me...I guess life in a third world country is just different...and I wish sometimes that people could be transplanted to just see and know what else is out there...both poverty and happiness and death and life lived to its fullest each day...but on a whole other level!
Keep up the great poetry...I know you say you do your best work when depressed, but maybe try something one of these days while you're happy. It may not seem good to you because it's different, but I would certainly love to see it. Start with a haiku...short and sweet
