Default Scream FaShaBaby Started This Thread
a scream dares to escape her throat
a scream so piercing
it could cut through the thickest shroud

dreams deferred reverberate through her skull
pounding, round and round
round and round
round and round

"could've been something"
"should've been something"
"would've been something"

on repeat, automatic
always, when she's alone

a spark of determination flares
originates from the depths of reason
gnaws at her
lets her believe

become what she could've been
an I-Can-Do-It!
takes shape in a corner of her mind

plans start calculating
goals emerge
she envisions a future

but first,
she must do the laundry
wash dishes,
cook a meal
before the kids come home.

LOL - Great write FASHA - I enjoyed this one immensely!
Ode To The Dream Of Merriment comes to mind as an alternative title LOL Funny: this write!

The Following Text Is Quoted:
but first,
she must do the laundry
wash dishes,
cook a meal
before the kids come home.
I almost laughed out loud at that last stanza - Just brilliant! Of course I know a lot of hoodrats who had the same dream - But are just satisfied doing the dishes, cooking and cleaning and taking care of the kids and stuff. It ain't easy work!

Like this one FASHA - Thanx for sharing it!

Jacquii.

his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

I felt kinda sad when I read this because I'm sure that there are many housewives that had dreams of being something outside of the home. I'm sure their scream happens daily on the inside and no one hears it. Something to think about. I enjoyed the read.

WHOA Lioness - You just made me look at this poem from a different perspective! That's the beauty of poetry. Very interesting write indeed!

Thanks, you guys for reading! Appreciate it. The tiny discussion was cool too, lol.

Yeah, some women go insane staying in all day with nothing else to do. It's totally understandable and not a bad thing. It's important that they find means to express life. Other women on the other hand, love being stay-at-home moms. And that is cool, too. Everyone is different.

But it's cool that all three of you got something different from this and then taken back to a sense of reality after a second read. Luv it. Thanks again!
