September 11th LW Barker Started This Thread
September 11th oh that fateful day
The sky a beautiful blue,
not a cloud in sight
Then, "Boom!" a loud explosion!
Up there, high above!
The visions of our worst nightmares;
Twin Towers on fire;
People falling to the streets;
Sirens scream pass and "Boom!"
The towers fall - thousands within!
A woman runs, but soon disappears -
beneath the evil, pursuing debris of shame.
So many lives lost, never to be restored.
But, it's not only those of September 11th,
I mourn this day, but those who go now to
defend our America, united!
And the long days of war ahead.

I like this because it puts tragedy into an illustration of words...I was prolly about 12 or 13 when this happened so it didn't really affect me much plus I had other deaths at the time, now I have a new understanding of the destruction and chaos and itz after effect...It is an eye opener to those who take life and the people they care about for granted...very good subject to touch up on

L.W....Very intense subject matter here. However, I can relate to this horrific act of terrorism, in this format of painted words. Ver nice ode and heartfelt piece, as well as beautifully written. Thank you for scribing this, as we must not forget, and also count our daily blessings.

There is a pain in this poem. But it is a reassuring one -- the poem helps the healing process, and it stands as an appropriate and just way to remember the victims of that true tragedy.
