Spring,
Sweet refreshing spring, Lilacs blossoming
And waltz in the gentle cool breeze
Cardinals, sparrows, doves and robins sing.
The aroma of lilacs drift about on the carefree breeze
White and pink flowering trees line the street
With the refreshing scent of Apple and Cherry blossoms
As the heart leaves sail through the flittering wind
Signaling the start of new life
Spring

Oooo! This is just so beautifully lilting - it's like a singsong verse - the aroma you can almost smell because you've descibed so intricately.

I like this poem TOM and will make an exception to the Greeting Card Aspirations Guidelines --- Generally I like the poem to be between 4 - 8 lines as noted - You have 9 lines (not counting the title of course) - but that last "Spring" just emphasizes the poem - just as if you're fading away with a sigh: Spring....... Like a fond memory LOL - beautifully written and I think a wonderful contribution - I think it will make a lovely e-Card

Thanx for posting and sharing your poem!

Jacquii.

his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Spring...peepers singing their annual song...lilacs, dogwoods, apple and cherry trees blooming, leaves sponge painted on the trees, forsythias electric blossoms lighting the way for tulips and daffodils. This brings back so many memories of spring in western PA.

The line about lilacs blossoming brought back all of that. I thank you for the memories and am so glad Jacquii's decided to put it in a greeting card.

hugs,
Gail

Your poem brought back so many memories of Spring. I prefer to think of it as 'The Greening'. The colors are so spectacular and the sky so blue it could make you cry with happiness. I find the first warm gentle breeze on my bare arms wonderful!
