Trinkets of Opal Lacquered in Onyx (the dogwood will bloom)
So I just read a poem inspired by piano and opal... I haven't written very much lately - but I just went through my "vitae" as it is LOL and found an interesting abstract... It's a poem in 5 parts actually - I will share the last part. The poem is entitled Trinkets of Opal Lacquered in Onyx (the dogwood will bloom) --- I didn't necessarily wanna inundate you all with the complete 5 verses - so the Last will have to suffice

Trinkets of Opal Lacquered in Onyx
(the dogwood will bloom)
5.
remember running astray? free-
flowing like duet-lovers
of yesterday - colorblind
like money,
malt-liquor, crazy cigarettes, incense, dreams
candles & love
lit the halls
of a good house: a
home caressing laughter, camaraderie;
love-must & true smiles
flowed freely as does
my old cadillac-car on icebergs-
(remember those days?) - riding
dirt roads, unkempt & untamed,
gravel pecking at the bumper
hitting the window (colorblind
like sparrows); a
tie-dye blouse
fondling your physique
(taupe, strawberry, burnished teak) a
mahogany mane
blowing in the wind, proud
as confederate flags of the
southern ‘70s
hoop jostling on your lobe, turquoise & sterling
bands upon your fingertips
shining brilliantly, an
old-man’s love, steady and
gracingly tender -
like a cousin: lovingly-rough, smoothe -
getting your undivided
attention like an lsd hit
(the good stuff) - remember
smoke stroking your solitude?: a fond
lover caressing the truth of you, whispering
you a funny-funny secret,
hilarious & terribly true,
scandalous, horribly scheisty, ridiculous?,
preposterous as an old memory laughing
you to the rhythm
of subtle throes, an elation ablaze
in the infernal woe, the immortal thirst
for love: passion.
remember those days? -
that trinket of opal &
romancing the stone
of undaunted
fate.
remember those days.

I remember those days ... ... ok, well not exactly, but something like that. Your poem sparked a memory ... that's amazing. Thank-you for sharing.

Ms. J!! Now you have whetted my appetite for the first 4! Inundate us please...well...you can do it one at a time, right? lol! This was a fabulous read...twisting me this way and that...peeking down one corridor and up the other...rainbows waving in the wind...imaginations a-clutter...I always love your poetry because there are layers and layers of unhibited bites of free flying truth...I remember those days...and hopefully will have some more...not the LSD kind of course...too much of a coward to experiment...lol

Dear Ms Jacquii,
Your poetry is like no other....unique and radiant. I do love your poetry as it makes me go through a myriad of emotions, times in life, those oh yeah moments, and damn that was some poem moments. I love your realistic abstracts if that makes sense.....your poetry is addictive...one cannot just stop at one...email me the rest as I would love to read it. Great write!!! Excellent rating!

Ha! That's why I was a little hesitant to post it - It's of the style abstract de' abstract LOL - And really is a poem simply recalling the days of past where love is simply love... I think I may record this piece, as it's written more abstractly than it sounds when recited - There's a lot of duplicity in this poem - That is to say - when read you may see one thing - but when spoken you hear quite a different type of thing entirely.
At anyrate - thanx so much for commenting

Hey BETH! Thanx so much - I appreciate you comment and yes - The last two stanzas of the poem (the 1st "remember those days?") is a question - the latter is meant to be heard as if stated firmly with exclamation point. Glad to have incited a memory - hope it was a good one

Aw! I don't believe there's any nuiance of cowardice on your persona LOL - But I do love it when you critique my abstracts - It's like you really get what I try to say within the poem - btw - the stanza you quoted is one of my favorites of the entire poem - And interestingly enough - I've only heard of LSD - I'm more of a laid back personality type than the trippy kind
At anyrate - I sooooo appreciate your fond comments = Thanx so much AND I just may post the entire piece - It may give you a little more insight of why "The Dogwood Will Bloom"

Kim
Aha! Emotions = YES! That's the thing I was certainly trying to evoke with this write - even as to remind myself of the days when we could simply bask in the glory of BEING! There was soooo much going on back when I wrote this poem - It was meant to be like a fast reel motion picture type thing - When the poem is read like a rapid fire type thing - it just seems to make much more sense - But we shall have our reminiscing no doubt! Realistically loving the abstract
Thanx MS KIM for your comments AND Thanx for the Excellent rating = Much appreciation
Jacquii.

Re: Trinkets of Opal Lacquered in Onyx (the dogwood will bloom)
I get a sense of frolicking on a beach or driving wildly in a dune buggy in an open Arizona desert. Freedom to be caught up in the other person. Wondering if there is love but having too good a time to question the moment. Finally wondering if the other is feeling the same but not really wanting to ask.
Written by a sophistaced flower-child all grown up?

I'm much to young to have been a flowerchild But then again - perhaps being a flowerchild is merely a state of mind; I have the flowerchild mentality lol

Close. My '79 Cadillac with the windows open was the vehicle and the setting is rustic Tennessee. Thanks for taking the time to comment this piece!
