We Are But Lonely Mortals Meek
We Are But Lonely Mortals Meek
We are but lonely mortals meek
Kindrid spirits caught beneath the flame
Whose fault is this? Who is to blame?
Is it that they are afraid to speak?
And though often my efforts seem in vain
And many times listless I am left
From trying to find meaning, my lifelong quest
Countless thoughts are in in disdain
The result: I am left alone
With something so serene
My will, I attempt to redeem
A lifelong lie I cannot condone
It is so easy to become entangled
I renounce my sins, each and every one
It is too late to take back the damage done
Too easily the soul is mangled
And so please listen to my advice
Do not fear the dimming of the light
Although it would seem all in spite
for the greater truth -- it would entice
I know one day, down, my body I will lay
And return the life that he lends
I shall close my eyes as darkness descends
Death's scavengers I cannot reel nor sway
