What of it, Jack?
What do you care...that I'm liberal and free with no underwear?

What of it, Jack?
Why do you pay mind... that I dance in my den, while eating pork rinds?

What of it, Jack?
Why is it your business... that I’m not the defendant but merely a witness?

What of it, Jack?
Why must you critique... my kinky hair and my elephant feet?

What of it, Jack?
How does it affect you... that I only put my right foot in my left shoe?

What of it, Jack?
Why is it your quest... to comment on my poorly worn sweater-vest?

What of it, Jack?
Yes! My skin is Black.
Yes! I make up for ALL of the things that you lack!
Yes! I cry during movies that should make me smile!
Yes! I laugh like a carefree cocoa-skin child!
Yes! I eat chitlins', chicken & drink kool-aid!
Yes! I can tell that you are afraid!
You're afraid of things which you don't comprehend.
But, What of it Jack? Why must I defend,
myself, my people, my desires, my skin?
Do my traits make me an undesirable friend?
Then leave me be Jack! Ignore me as you will.
Though I will remain: Ms. TD Hill.

ha! allright for the chitlins! And all the good things that make you Ms TD Hill. I liked this flow, it's so carefree & nonchalant. It's a feel-good, self affirmation piece. It's obvious the author is speaking from an empowered voice which is untainted by the drama-game of those who envy to the point of spontaneous combustion.

Nice write = thanks for the share

J.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Very powerful stuff, indeed.

To me this one line pretty much sums up the answer to the questions at the beginning of the poem.

If only we could all open our minds all the way up and if only we would WANT to try to understand each other .... sure might find more love and peace in this world.

Ms TD Hill... I thought the format in which you wrote this wonderful ranting poem was so perfect. The
questions followed by the statements of who you are and ending with "Ignore me as you will.
Though I will remain...." Nicely put.
