I might be wrong but I've heard that some publishers would considered this as publishing because it would be open to the general public?
Just curious Lil Sis!
I'm in the process of "tidying up" the JPiC TOS. But just so you know = it truly depends on the publisher as to whether they'd consider a piece posted online as published.
Also just so you know -
original copyright always remains that of the author. I only included section in our TOS as a
courtesy. I think perhaps it was too much. I've been advised that it would better serve our purpose if the TOS was simplified. So I'm gonna try to do it in the coming days.
Please be aware though that ANYWHERE you post a piece online - it may be considered published. This is not only exclusive to JPiC Gail. So if you are perhaps worried about posting excerpts here - then you should be equally worried about posting excerpts ANYWHERE
I'd advise you to not be worried though LOL - I believe if your prospective publisher is interesting in owning/purchasing the rights to your work - that they will not let a post on some internet forum interfere with said ownership/purchase.
Note: I've moved these posts from the announcement thread as it was kinda off-topic.
This forum is more appropriate for the topic at hand.

Excerpts are a bit of a grey area and it will depend on how open minded the Publisher is.
Some publishers
may consider a piece posted on the net as published. There's not really any "official" set of rules on this - it really depends on the publisher. But as I posted above - if the publisher is seriously interested in owning the right to your work and want to put it in print = an internet post is not gonna stop that from happening.
Gail you might ask
Altree94. She would know, as she requested I remove some of her posts from public view. The poems she'd posted here were featured in her
The Language of Poetry Forms book. I was happy to oblige her request - and her book was published without issue.
