Everyday Christmas
© Bob Barra, 12-7-06
I decked the boughs in early years,
Not knowing the reason that He came;
Then, from sin’s loss, I fought the tears,
This Reason was not my Lord to reign;
That memory soon became a witness,
Of what my life was sadly missing;
I just endured an everyday Christmas,
And needed the mercy of heaven’s kissing;
Now hell is not my destination,
For the fact He heard me pray;
By Jesus’ gift I have salvation,
And now have Christmas every day;
So when the snows have cleared away,
The tree is gone, until next year;
My hope for you; this I pray:
That Christmas in you will still be here;
A Child was born for our sake,
That we would see the will of God;
His Son came to take man’s ache;
To bring him in by divine nod;
May your life be one of joy and peace,
When this Christmas fades away,
Long after a star had shone in the east,
You’d have Christmas every day.
