God's Doodling
God’s Doodling
Pensive, I sit here on this dampened bank
Staring afar and wondering still
How God created all this purely from His will
Each drop of water, or piece of twig
Does it ever end, how did it get so big!
Did he start out doodling in the sand?
Then was startled when his plan got so grand?
So mind-shatteringly tremendous
He wondered “do some things seem superfluous?”
The ants, the flies and fleas though they be
Are they as necessary for life as the bee?
The man, the woman, green bushes and trees
The animals, and birds, and fish in the sea
The thunder, and lightening and rain that will fall
The hurricanes, floods, doves for the love call
He thought, “did it all come from me?”
What a great responsibility!
What a picture I drew, then life in it I blew
I wonder how they will behave
Will they be happy or mostly grave?
Will they run in the sun and worship the sea?
Or will they turn away from me?
Will it work that I did this?
Made this small perfect world?
With a shining sun and a silvery moon
To enhance the beauty of the little racoon?
Will it work, or should I start to erase
This page of my scrapbook, just in case.
He thought and thought and smiled at last
Feeling and seeing the excitement of something so vast
Of those who would love Him...hang on His every word
Rejoicing and dancing and singing His praise
Turning toward Heaven, hearts, heads and hands raised
He swallowed, almost as if taking a pill
While gently creating that last far green hill
The one where His Beloved Son would hang
Where Jesus, King of the Jews, would be mockingly hailed
His heart swelled, and His hand slightly shook
Then a voice whispered "Father, do it by the book"
His Son by his side, watching Him quietly
Steadfast eyes, glinting with purpose
God, The Son, ready and waiting to fulfill
His Father's will...to die for us all...
So that we may be raised high up to His throne
Together forever...and ever...never alone...

Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible."
