My FRIEND

I'M THANKFUL THAT I HAVE A FRIEND,
A FRIEND THAT SAYS I CARE,
WHO LISTENS TO MY TROUBLES, AND,
IS COMFORT IN DESPAIR


WHO SHARES MY SORROW, GIVES ME JOY,
AND SAYS I UNDERSTAND,
WHO GIVES ME ALL, IN STRENGTH I NEED,
AND YET MAKES NO DEMAND,


A FRIEND WHO GIVES AND DOES NOT ASK,
WHO'S THERE WHEN ALL SEEMS LOST,
A FRIEND SO STEADFAST IN HIS LOVE,
WHATEVER BE THE COST,


I'M THANKFUL THAT I KNOW SOMEONE,
THAT I CAN CALL MY FRIEND,
WHO'LL BE THERE WITH HIS HAND OUTSTRETCHED,
WHEN I'VE REACHED JOURNEYS END.

I've come to realise that all true poetry is prayer and alll true prayer is poetry. Thank you for sharing this poetic prayer, or prayerful poem!

Yes Indeed is he our friend, there along, and willing. This puts me in mind of a poem I wrote called Timeless Journey. This reads like it should be on a Hallmark card, you know the slogan...When you want to send the best, send a Hallmark. I loved this, and have enjoyed your work tremendously.
